Every nation has its culture, what's important is not the number of cultures available, but the harmony among them. When this harmony exists, it creates a unique society.
If dancing, singing and partying is part of indonesia culture, then surely Obama will be there!!

The culture in Indonesia I would say is very diverse. It is always an advantage when 300 ethnics can live in one country without much war. I would certainly like to experience the feel of being there someday.

A cultural heritage passed on through generations offers a wealth of traditional arts and crafts. Batik, wooden carvings, weavings, silverworks and many other traditional skills produce exquisitely beautiful items. Indonesia's multi-racial and multi-religious culture mean festivals steeped in traditions are celebrated throughout the year. Frequently featured in these events are dances, wayang theaters and other performing arts.

Yes,I agreed that Indonesia is one of the country that rich with their own and foreign culture as well as tradition.Indonesia is a big country therefore there are a lots of foreign culture and tradition that came from all over the world especially from the Southeast Asia.Actually, the original of Malay is from Java,Indonesia.

Moreover,Western culture has influenced Indonesia most in modern entertainment such as television shows, movies and songs. Despite the influences of foreign culture, some remote Indonesian regions still preserve uniquely indigenous culture. Indigenous ethnic groups of Mentawai, Asmat, Dani, Dayak, Toraja and many others are still practicing their ethnic rituals, customs and wearing traditional clothes.

If I tell you honestly then I am sorry to say that Indonesia is not much different than other countries of our Asian countries. As you said, Indonesia has different religion and different cultures in different states or cities in Indonesia. In India, Pakistan, Bangladesh also has variety of religion and the culture is different from each to another and if you search in internet about the language of India I am sure that you will be shocked because in India there have more than 250 different languages and they have also different people of different religion. By the way, Indonesian culture is also well known all over the world.

Nella, after some research, I have found out an interesting article about your country's diverse culture. It has been shaped by long interaction between original indigenous customs and multiple foreign influences. Indonesia is central along ancient trading routes between the Far East and the Middle East, resulting in many cultural practices being strongly influenced by a multitude of religions, including Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism and Islam, all strong in the major trading cities. The result is a complex cultural mixture very different from the original indigenous cultures.

Examples of cultural fusion include Agama Hindu Dharma, a denomination of Hinduism now practiced by 93% of Balinese, the fusion of Islam with Hindu in Javanese Abangan belief, the fusion of Hinduism, Buddhism and animism in Bodha, and the fusion of Hinduism and animism in Kaharingan; others could be cited.

Indonesian art-forms express this cultural mix. Wayang, traditional theater-performed puppet shows, were a medium in the spread of Hinduism and Islam amongst Javan villagers. Both Javanese and Balinese dances have stories about ancient Buddhist and Hindu kingdoms, while Islamic art forms and architecture are present in Sumatra, especially in the Minangkabau and Aceh regions. Traditional art, music and sport are combined in a martial art form called Pencak Silat.

There is no doubt that Indonesia has a diverse culture and as Eric mentioned if those people from different cultures and backgrounds live in a harmony then it would be a wonderful place in the world!!!
