Foreign Direct Investment in Indonesia

Indonesia is open for any foreigner who interest to make investment in Indonesia, Indonesia divided investment become three categories which are: new investment, expansions and changes investment. Changes investment means "foreign investor buys domestic company partly or wholly in which case the entire equity of the Indonesian firm is added to the investment approval totals".

The major investor in Indonesia is United States, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, United Kingdom, South Korea, Germany and Australia. Most of that country invested in Trade, Industry, Property, Plantation, Services, Infrastructure, Construction, Fishery, and Franchises.

Indonesia government practices law no 1 year 1967 its amendment about the Foreign Investment and Law no 1 year 1995 about limited Liability Company. All foreign investor only have right to land holdings for usually obtained through long-term lease agreements (normally for 30 years) with the government or private parties.

Certain sector is close for all investor which is: marijuana, sponges, harmful chemical products, weapons, alcoholic drinks, casinos, air traffic systems. Sector that only closed for foreign investor which is "germ palms cultivation, forest concessions, lumbering contractors, taxi/bus transport and small-scale water transport services, print media, TV, radio, film and cinema, including distribution and exhibition, small-scale retail trade".

Major of culture and tradition in Indonesia

Based on geography Indonesia is big country and has a lot of varieties. Indonesia has 300 ethnics and all ethnics have different tradition and culture, examples languages in every provinces are different such as in north Sumatra they using Batak languages, in West Sumatra they using Minang language and Bali they using Bali languages.

Indonesia also has different traditional costumes such as in Java their traditional costumes is Batik, North Sumatra is Kain Ulos, Baju Bodo comes from southern Sulawesi, Baju Berkoteka comes from Papua and so on.

Indonesia has five religion and majority by Islam which is 88% based on 2000 census, 9% of Christian (Protestant and Catholic, 2% of Hindu and 1% of Buddhist.

Actually tradition and culture in Indonesia also influenced by foreign culture and tradition such as Candi Borobudur is Influenced by Hindu Temple, Dangdut is Indonesian Music which influenced by India and Melayu music, Baju Kebaya belief influenced from China clan who was visit Indonesia in 1600.

Indonesia is really beautiful because Indonesia has different- different culture and tradition, isn't it you think the same way?

Bombed in Bali effect tourism in Indonesia

Everybody knows that Bali is major tourism in Indonesia and most of international tourist prefer to go Bali than other place in Indonesia. But in 12th October 2002, the first bombing in Bali happened and it was effect Indonesia very badly. 202 people killed and many of them were foreign tourist. Before in 2001, 25 percents of Indonesia foreign exchanges earnings comes from Bali but after bombing the number of foreign tourist decline to 57 percents and in short time around 2.7 million tourism workers unemployed in Bali. Even one year after it was happen, tourism numbers in Bali still below of average and make Bali faced financial crisis.
Actually in early 2005 tourism in Bali start to beginning again but suddenly 2 October the second bomb happened. Even give more bad impact to tourism in Indonesia, foreign tourist and local tourist become scare to come to Bali. The number of tourism comes to Bali decline again.

What should Indonesia government do to anticipate or prevent this happen again? And what Indonesia government should do to increase number of tourism?

Indonesia rich of nature

Indonesia has a lot of tourism to visit because Indonesia rich of nature, did you ever visit any places in Indonesia? Did u ever heard about Bali Island in Indonesia? It is very famous tourism in Indonesia. In Bali you can see a lot of beautiful view, nature and tradition. Few places that very popular in Bali such as Tanah Lot, Tanjung Benoa, Pantai Kuta (Kuta Island), Kintanami, Sangeh, Pasar Sukowati (Sukowati Market). In Tanah Lot we can find two Balinese temples (Pura) which build in the middle of sea.

Tanjung Benoa is favorite place for people who like water sport such as banana boat, snorkeling, flying fish, parasailing and Jet Ski nearby tanjung benoa also has another island called pulau penyu or Turtle Island. Pulau penyu very interesting because we can see so many type of turtle especially scarce type, other than turtle we also can see other animals such as snakes, bats, birds and fish.

Besides than Bali Island, Indonesia also has a lot of tourism such as Lake Toba in North Sumatra. Lake Toba or Danau Toba also famous because in the middle of this lake got one small island called Samosir Island. This lake formed by eruption around 67500-75500 years ago and after that filling with rain water (http://id.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danau_Toba, 5th November 2008), the island middle of the lake or Samosir Island is formed by resurgent dome. The weather in this place is mild for another place in Sumatra.

Bunaken Island also favorite tourism in Indonesia, Bunaken is located in Manado which capital of North Sulawesi province. So many people come to Bunaken to do their hobbies especially people who like water sports such as scuba diving, snorkeling and so on. "Bunaken is part of Bunaken marine national park, which has some of the highest levels of marine biodiversity in the world (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bunaken, 6th November 2008)". Bunaken marine national park has nice view under water because so many coral and plants there but it does not means that view above water not nice, it is also nice view to enjoy.
